Environmental protection

Costa Rica, a country with a remarkable biodiversity, pioneer in the domains of ecology and sustainable tourism.
Environmental protection

Located in the middle of the Central American isthmus, Costa Rica is bordered to the west by the Pacific Ocean and to the east by the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean.

The population, which is essentially of European origin, is estimated at 4.9 million inhabitants. With an area of some 51,000 km², Costa Rica is slightly larger than Switzerland but is approximately ten times less wide than France and even two hundred times smaller than Canada.

If Costa Rica covers only 0.03% of the surface of the planet, no other country in the world reaches such biodiversity.

One finds there 6% of all the animal and vegetable species listed on Earth!  This includes in particular 850 species of birds, 12,000 kinds of plants including 1,400 orchids, 1,600 types of fish, 230 kinds of mammals and thousands of species of butterflies.

Among the animals, it is hard not to fall under the charm of the facetious monkeys, the superb fur of the ocelot, the incredible iridescent colors of the hummingbirds, the irresistible smile of a lazy or the sumptuous ornament of the resplendent quetzal...

In addition to its unique fauna and flora, this green paradise offers an impressive variety of ecosystems going from the dry tropical forest to the rain forest via the mangrove swamp or the littoral bordered with vast beaches and embellished with coral reefs.

The country is crossed in its center by imposing volcanos and a chain of high summits refreshed by the fogs alternating with limpid water torrents and with delicious heat thermal springs.

For more than 50 years, this tropical Eden implemented many measures to preserve its natural treasure.

So today, national parks and biological reserves, whether they are public or private, cover more than one quarter of the Costa Rican territory!

In parallel and this since the years 70’, Costa Rica became pioneer in ecotourism.

This concept, encouraged by the authorities, truly addressed the challenge of getting the tourism off the ground. And today, among the tourists who discover the country (coming mainly from North America and Europe), a growing number of them is enchanted by lodging that is more respectful of the environment, from charming and affordable guest houses to luxurious lodges.

It is thanks to this doubly buoyant context  - environmental protection and a growing request for eco-friendly tourist accommodation -  that a certain number of investors precisely chose Costa Rica. There is indeed no doubt that a real estate investment in an ecological niche offers excellent growth prospects…
